Telangana Minister Niranjan Reddy slams Rahul Gandhi’s corruption allegations

Telangana Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy ridicules Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of Rs 1 lakh crore corruption in Kaleshwaram project

Hyderabad, October 19, 2023: Telangana Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy on Thursday ridiculed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of Rs 1 lakh crore corruption in the implementation of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

Addressing a news conference, Reddy said Gandhi’s allegations smacked of sheer ignorance of the development that had taken place in the state. He said Gandhi was trying to accuse the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of corruption in the implementation of a project that involved far less as its estimated cost.

Reddy also hit out at Gandhi for his remarks against the loan waiver implemented by the BRS government in the state. He said the government had facilitated waiver of over Rs 13,000 crore benefiting about 23 lakh farmers. He said the Congress leadership had lost its credibility and cannot make the people of Telangana believe about its guarantees.

The promises made by the Congress party in Karnataka were thrown already to winds,” Reddy said.

Reddy’s response comes after Gandhi alleged at a rally in Telangana on Wednesday that the Kaleshwaram project was a “scam” and that the BRS government had pocketed Rs 1 lakh crore in corruption.

The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project is a massive irrigation project that was completed in 2019 at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore. The project was launched by the BRS government to irrigate over 18 lakh acres of land in the state.

Siddipet: Inspiration for the Telangana Model of Development

Siddipet: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) has said that Siddipet, the constituency he represents, is the inspiration for the Telangana model of development.

Speaking at a public meeting in Siddipet on Tuesday, KCR said that the Telangana model of development is based on the principle of inclusive growth, with a focus on providing basic necessities such as water, electricity, and irrigation to all sections of society.

He said that the Siddipet drinking water scheme, which he initiated as Siddipet MLA, inspired the state government’s flagship Mission Bhagiratha programme. He also recalled the challenges he faced in digging borewells for farmers in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, which inspired him to initiate the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.

KCR also said that the Dalit Bandhu programme, which provides financial assistance of Rs.10 lakh to each Dalit family, was inspired by an incident in Siddipet where he helped a Dalit woman purchase a bicycle for her son-in-law.

KCR said that he is proud to represent Siddipet and that he will continue to work for the development of the constituency and the state of Telangana.

Telangana: KTR urges people to say no to “Scamgress”

Telangana: Telangana’s BRS working president KTR has accused the Congress party of pumping crores of rupees into the state to purchase votes in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Sharing a news report about the seizure of around Rs 42 crore from a BJP corporator’s residence during Income Tax raids in Karnataka, KTR took to social media to call out the Congress party.

He accused the “intellectually bankrupt” Congress of pumping crores of rupees from Karnataka to purchase votes in Telangana, which is set to go to polls on December 3.

“Their PCC Cheap was the one who was caught on camera bribing in Vote for Note scam and now since this criminal is now leading the pack of Thugs, this was very much expected. Let’s say No to ‘Scamgress’ in TS,” he tweeted.

KTR’s comments come at a time when the Congress party is trying to make inroads in Telangana. The party has recently appointed A. Revanth Reddy as its state president. Reddy, a former TDP leader, is known for his aggressive style of politics.

The Telangana Assembly elections are expected to be a close contest between the ruling BRS and the BJP. The Congress party is hoping to play the role of a kingmaker in the elections.

Gambling Camps Flourish in Telangana Despite Ban

Despite a ban on gambling in Telangana, gambling camps are operating secretly in swanky apartments and air-conditioned rooms, especially on weekends and holidays. These camps are reportedly operated by certain persons who bribe top police officials every month.

To participate in the gambling at these camps, one has to pay somewhere between Rs 3,000 and 5,000. In addition to gambling, one will also get drinks and food, including premium liquor and non-vegetarian snacks.

Sources said that a realtor and an owner of fertilizers outlet of Kagaznagar reportedly operate the gambling camps in Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial districts. Some government teachers are also said to be organising these camps in Reddy Colony and other parts of Mancherial district centre.

The menace was exposed only when videos and photographs of these gambling camps were leaked and widely shared on social media platforms. However, no cases were registered and no action was taken against the offenders.

The police department is drawing flak for failing to curb the menace and for ‘indirectly’ encouraging it by accepting monthly bribes.
