Parliament Security Breach: Chaos Erupts in Lok Sabha

Unprecedented Security Breach in Parliament Raises Alarms

A big security problem happened in Parliament today. At around 1:02 pm, during Zero Hour, two guys with smoke canisters jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber. The smoke was yellow, and it caused chaos. One guy in a dark blue shirt jumped over desks to escape, while the other sprayed smoke in the visitors’ gallery. MPs and security staff stopped them.

The Lok Sabha started again at 2 pm, and Speaker Om Birla said they’re investigating. He asked Delhi Police to help with the inquiry. Before the chaos, a Lok Sabha official was reading, and suddenly people were shouting to catch someone. Rahul Gandhi, Hardeep Singh Puri, and Anupriya Patel were there.

A pass from BJP MP Pratap Simha’s office was found on one of the guys. But no matter which MP’s office gives a pass, visitors must pass five levels of security.

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram thought someone fell at first. He said it was a security breach, and the gas might be harmful. He wants a thorough investigation.

Palvai Sravanthi Resigns from Congress

Hyderabad: In a shocking turn of events, Palvai Sravanthi, a senior Congress leader and AICC member, has tendered her resignation from the party, citing a myriad of reasons in a hard-hitting letter addressed to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The resignation comes from Sravanthi’s recent bid for an MLA seat in the Munugode by-poll, where she secured the third position with 23,906 votes.

In the three-page missive, Sravanthi, the daughter of the late former Minister Palvai Govardhan Reddy, painted a bleak picture of the Congress in Telangana, characterizing it as a “commercial organization and profit-making entity.” She expressed concern about the dilution of the party’s core values and the erosion of its democratic principles.

Sravanthi, drawing on the legacy of her father, a five-time MLA, Rajya Sabha member, and Minister, lamented the denial of a ticket despite surveys indicating her strong connection with the constituency. She alleged that the party had deviated from the ideals set forth in the Udaipur Declaration, and instead, “money bags and currency notes took over credibility and credentials.”

The former Congress leader accused the party leadership in Telangana of manipulating surveys, practicing favoritism in ticket allocation, and neglecting deserving candidates with winning prospects. Without explicitly naming TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, Sravanthi hinted at his involvement, stating that the individual in charge of party affairs in Telangana was openly selling tickets with “counters brazenly kept open.

I wonder if the high command and senior leaders sitting in Delhi were privy to this foul play and cheap acts,” Sravanthi remarked in her letter, expressing her dismay at the erosion of the party’s reputation. She denounced the emergence of a “new breed of brokers” within the party, accusing them of tarnishing its image.

The resignation of a prominent leader like Palvai Sravanthi raises questions about the internal dynamics and decision-making processes within the Congress party in Telangana. As the party grapples with these internal rifts, it remains to be seen how leadership will respond to the serious allegations leveled by Sravanthi in her strongly worded letter.

Vivek Venkataswamy Resigns from BJP, Joins Congress

Vivek Venkataswamy, who was previously a member of the BJP, has decided to leave the party. He is expected to join the Congress, and this move took place in the presence of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

This decision by Vivek Venkataswamy is seen as a significant setback for the BJP in Telangana, especially with the upcoming assembly elections. He has formally resigned from the BJP and will meet Rahul Gandhi in Hyderabad to announce his joining of the Congress.

In his resignation letter to the BJP’s state unit president, G Kishan Reddy, Vivek expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his time with the BJP.

It has been reported that A Revanth Reddy, the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), reached out to Vivek and encouraged him to join the Congress. Additionally, there are indications that Vivek’s son, Vamshi Krishna, may be nominated by the Congress to contest in the Chennur constituency.

Rahul Gandhi’s anti-corruption campaign faces backlash

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s anti-corruption campaign faces backlash as BRS accuses Congress of ‘Note for Seat’ scam

In a twist of political events, as Congress MP Rahul Gandhi intensified his campaign against corruption, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has called on him to acknowledge the alleged widespread corruption within the Congress party, particularly regarding the sale of tickets and positions.

On Friday, TPCC general secretary and Gadwal ticket aspirant K Vijay Kumar filed a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate, accusing TPCC president A Revanth Reddy of corruption, money laundering, and extortion related to the sale of tickets.

In response to these developments, IT Minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao commented on Twitter, “While Scamgress scion Rahul Gandhi delivers speeches on corruption, Telangana Congress leaders are resorting to complaints to the Enforcement Directorate about the ‘Note for Seat’ Scam involving TPCC president, who has previously been embroiled in the ‘Vote for Note’ scandal.”

Rama Rao’s remark alluded to the ongoing controversy and raised questions about the Congress party’s commitment to fighting corruption. He further added, “This is probably why Mahatma Gandhi Ji recommended that Congress be disbanded after Independence.”

The incident involving Revanth Reddy is not an isolated case. In the past, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had alleged that the then AICC Telangana incharge Manickam Tagore had engaged in the sale of TPCC positions.

Sharing a news report, the IT Minister highlighted, “According to Telangana’s Congress MP Venkat Reddy, one All India Congressman sells the TPCC post while another buys it for ₹50 Crore. And Rahul Gandhi lectures the world on Corruption. Scamgress lives up to its Name.”

The BRS’s accusations against the Congress have put the opposition party in a defensive position. The Congress has denied the allegations, but the controversy has cast a shadow on its anti-corruption campaign.

Analysis

The BRS’s accusations against the Congress are part of a larger political strategy to discredit the opposition party and undermine its support base. The BRS is the dominant political force in Telangana, and it is keen to maintain its hold on power in the upcoming state assembly elections.

The Congress is the main challenger to the BRS in Telangana. The party has been trying to regain its lost ground in the state by focusing on issues such as corruption and unemployment.

The BRS’s accusations against the Congress of corruption have the potential to damage the party’s image and erode its support base. However, the Congress is likely to counter these accusations and try to turn the tide in its favor.

The controversy over the alleged ‘Note for Seat’ scam is likely to have a significant impact on the upcoming state assembly elections in Telangana. The outcome of the elections will depend on how the two main parties, the BRS and the Congress, are able to mobilize their respective support bases and counter the other party’s allegations.

Telangana Minister Niranjan Reddy slams Rahul Gandhi’s corruption allegations

Telangana Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy ridicules Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of Rs 1 lakh crore corruption in Kaleshwaram project

Hyderabad, October 19, 2023: Telangana Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy on Thursday ridiculed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of Rs 1 lakh crore corruption in the implementation of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

Addressing a news conference, Reddy said Gandhi’s allegations smacked of sheer ignorance of the development that had taken place in the state. He said Gandhi was trying to accuse the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of corruption in the implementation of a project that involved far less as its estimated cost.

Reddy also hit out at Gandhi for his remarks against the loan waiver implemented by the BRS government in the state. He said the government had facilitated waiver of over Rs 13,000 crore benefiting about 23 lakh farmers. He said the Congress leadership had lost its credibility and cannot make the people of Telangana believe about its guarantees.

The promises made by the Congress party in Karnataka were thrown already to winds,” Reddy said.

Reddy’s response comes after Gandhi alleged at a rally in Telangana on Wednesday that the Kaleshwaram project was a “scam” and that the BRS government had pocketed Rs 1 lakh crore in corruption.

The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project is a massive irrigation project that was completed in 2019 at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore. The project was launched by the BRS government to irrigate over 18 lakh acres of land in the state.

BRS Leaders Strongly Disapprove of Rahul Gandhi’s Statements

Leaders of the BRS expressed their strong disapproval of the remarks made by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Congress leaders, during their recent visit to Mulugu district. They held a press conference to voice their concerns.

Satyavathi Rathod, the Minister for Tribal, Women, and Child Welfare, criticized Rahul Gandhi’s statements as “unreasonable.” She accused the Congress leaders of making empty promises to mislead people ahead of the upcoming elections.

Rathod questioned why the Congress leaders were suddenly talking about the national status of the Medaram jatara, given that the Congress has been a prominent political party in India for many years. She suggested that people were not taking these hollow promises seriously and were instead laughing at them.

Rathod also challenged the Congress party’s claims about podu lands, arguing that during the Congress’s rule in the state, both tribal and non-tribal communities had faced significant difficulties.

She highlighted the achievements of the Telangana government, led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, including the distribution of land titles for over 4.60 lakh acres of podu lands. This distribution even included the parents of Congress MLA Seethakka from Mulugu.

Rathod further dared the Congress to attract at least 10,000 people to their meetings and rallies. She emphasized the progress made in Bhupalapally and Mulugu districts, where tribal settlements had transformed into Gram Panchayats with better infrastructure and services.

Other prominent leaders, such as MPs Maloth Kavitha, Pasunuri Dayakar, MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, and MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, also shared similar disapproval of the comments made by the Congress leaders.
