Nirmala Sitharaman to Present Union Budget 2024-25 on July 23

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to Present Union Budget 2024-25 on July 23

New Delhi, July 6, 2024 – Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha on July 23, 2024. This will be Sitharaman’s seventh consecutive Union Budget, making her the first finance minister to achieve this milestone, surpassing Morarji Desai who presented six budgets in a row.

The upcoming budget session of Parliament is scheduled to commence on July 22 and continue until August 22. The economic survey is expected to be tabled a day prior to the budget presentation, on July 22.

Sitharaman, who was re-elected for a second consecutive term as Finance Minister under the BJP government, is expected to outline the government’s key fiscal and economic priorities for the 2024-25 financial year. The Union Budget is a crucial document that details the government’s revenue and expenditure plans, and is closely watched by businesses, investors, and the general public.

Some key expectations for the Budget 2024-25 include tax relief and incentives for the pharmaceutical sector to boost innovation and competitiveness, as well as increased allocations for healthcare and rural development programs. The government is also likely to focus on measures to make India a global manufacturing hub and a “pharmacy of the world”.

With the BJP-led NDA government returning to power, the upcoming budget will be the first major policy announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term. Finance Minister Sitharaman will be tasked with striking a balance between fiscal prudence and supporting economic growth in the face of global headwinds

Congress First Batch of Candidates: Telangana Lok Sabha

Congress Announces First Batch of Candidates for Lok-Sabha Elections in Telangana

In a recent development, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has unveiled its initial lineup of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Telangana. This announcement marks a significant step in the party’s preparations for the crucial electoral battle ahead.

The first list comprises four candidates who will be representing the Congress in different constituencies across the state. Suresh Kumar Shetkar has been selected to contest from Zaheerabad, while Raghuveer Kunduru will be the party’s candidate from Nalgonda. Similarly, Balram Naik Porika and Challa Vamshichand Reddy have been nominated to represent the Congress in the Mahabubabad and Mahabubnagar constituencies respectively.

AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal made the announcement during a press conference held in New Delhi, shedding light on the party’s strategic choices for the upcoming elections.

However, prior to the official release of the list by the AICC, another list containing 36 candidates, including Sunitha Mahender Reddy for Chevella constituency, had been circulating on various social media platforms. This caused some initial confusion among party members and the public alike.

Interestingly, the candidature of Vamshichand Reddy from Mahabubnagar was initially put on hold, along with two candidates from Karnataka. Nevertheless, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had already declared Vamshichand’s candidature during a public gathering in Mahabubnagar earlier in the week.

This unveiling of candidates is just the beginning of what promises to be an intense electoral season in Telangana. With political parties gearing up for fierce competition, each candidate’s campaign and the party’s overall strategy will play a crucial role in shaping the outcome of the elections.

As the election fever grips the state, all eyes will be on the Congress and its contenders as they strive to secure victory and make their mark in the Lok Sabha elections.

Parliament Security Breach: Chaos Erupts in Lok Sabha

Unprecedented Security Breach in Parliament Raises Alarms

A big security problem happened in Parliament today. At around 1:02 pm, during Zero Hour, two guys with smoke canisters jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber. The smoke was yellow, and it caused chaos. One guy in a dark blue shirt jumped over desks to escape, while the other sprayed smoke in the visitors’ gallery. MPs and security staff stopped them.

The Lok Sabha started again at 2 pm, and Speaker Om Birla said they’re investigating. He asked Delhi Police to help with the inquiry. Before the chaos, a Lok Sabha official was reading, and suddenly people were shouting to catch someone. Rahul Gandhi, Hardeep Singh Puri, and Anupriya Patel were there.

A pass from BJP MP Pratap Simha’s office was found on one of the guys. But no matter which MP’s office gives a pass, visitors must pass five levels of security.

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram thought someone fell at first. He said it was a security breach, and the gas might be harmful. He wants a thorough investigation.

Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay said it was a terrible experience, and they didn’t know the attackers’ target. They left immediately.

Outside Parliament, a man and a woman were detained with smoke canisters that exploded with red and yellow smoke. Delhi Police thinks these incidents are related. The man and woman are Amol Shinde, 25, and Neelam, 42.

This security breach happened on the 22nd anniversary of the Old Parliament Building terror attack. Earlier, PM Modi and President Droupadi Murmu paid tribute to the nine people who died in that attack. Serious questions are being asked about today’s security lapse.
