Hyderabad: Ride Turns Nightmare, Woman Extorts Rs. 25k

Hyderabad: Man’s Good Samaritan Act Turns into Nightmare as Woman Extorts Rs. 25,000 with Threat of Undressing

Hyderabad, December 26, 2023: In a shocking incident that has sent shivers down the spines of Hyderabad residents, a man who offered a lift to a woman on Sunday evening was subjected to a harrowing ordeal of blackmail and extortion. The woman, disguised under a mask and glasses, threatened to undress herself in his vehicle, forcing him to hand over Rs. 25,000.

45-year-old Gutti Jangaiah, a private employee, was returning home on his motorcycle around 5:30 PM when he encountered the woman near SNT Junction. She approached him, requesting a lift. Despite his initial hesitation, Jangaiah, in a spirit of helpfulness, agreed to drop her off.

However, near Mugdha Signal, the woman’s demeanor took a sinister turn. She insisted that Jangaiah accompany her to a room, a request he politely declined. This sparked a confrontation, with the woman shockingly taking control of the motorcycle and demanding money.

Despite initially resisting, Jangaiah, fearing for his safety, was forced to give her Rs. 50. The situation escalated further when the woman snatched his phone and demanded more. Under immense pressure, Jangaiah withdrew Rs. 25,000 from an ATM near SNT Junction and surrendered it to her.

But the woman’s greed remained insatiable. She took the motorcycle key and threatened to undress herself if he didn’t comply with her further demands. Fearful of public humiliation, Jangaiah continued to hand over cash until he had no more money left.

Finally, with Jangaiah completely drained, the woman returned the bike key and requested to be dropped off at the SNT Bus Stop. This marked the end of Jangaiah’s harrowing ordeal.

Shaken and traumatized, Jangaiah lodged a complaint with the police on Monday. The authorities are investigating the incident and are currently searching for the woman.

This incident raises serious concerns about the safety of individuals, particularly those who offer help to strangers. It highlights the need for increased vigilance and awareness of potential threats, especially during late hours.

The Hyderabad Police Department has urged citizens to exercise caution while offering rides to strangers and to report any suspicious activity immediately. They have also assured swift action against those who exploit the kindness of others for their own nefarious purposes.

Teenager from Warangal arrested for sending death threats to Mukesh Ambani

A 19-year-old from Warangal, Telangana, has been arrested for allegedly sending death threats to billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani. The accused, identified as Ganesh Ramesh Vanaparthi, is said to have sent multiple emails to Ambani demanding crores of rupees and threatening to harm him if the demands were not met.

Vanaparthi was arrested after the Mumbai police traced the IP address of the emails to his computer. He was produced before a court and remanded to police custody till November 8.

According to the police, Vanaparthi sent the first email on October 27, demanding ₹20 crores and threatening that ‘we have the best shooters in India’. The following day, another email was sent demanding more money with a line from the email saying ‘If the demands are not fulfilled, a death warrant will be issued’.

The police are investigating whether Vanaparthi acted alone or if he was part of a larger group. They are also trying to determine his motive for sending the threats.

In addition to Vanaparthi, a 21-year-old man from Gujarat has also been arrested for sending similar threats to Ambani. The man, identified as Rajveer Khant, is said to have sent the emails as a “joke.”

Rahul Gandhi’s anti-corruption campaign faces backlash

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s anti-corruption campaign faces backlash as BRS accuses Congress of ‘Note for Seat’ scam

In a twist of political events, as Congress MP Rahul Gandhi intensified his campaign against corruption, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has called on him to acknowledge the alleged widespread corruption within the Congress party, particularly regarding the sale of tickets and positions.

On Friday, TPCC general secretary and Gadwal ticket aspirant K Vijay Kumar filed a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate, accusing TPCC president A Revanth Reddy of corruption, money laundering, and extortion related to the sale of tickets.

In response to these developments, IT Minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao commented on Twitter, “While Scamgress scion Rahul Gandhi delivers speeches on corruption, Telangana Congress leaders are resorting to complaints to the Enforcement Directorate about the ‘Note for Seat’ Scam involving TPCC president, who has previously been embroiled in the ‘Vote for Note’ scandal.”

Rama Rao’s remark alluded to the ongoing controversy and raised questions about the Congress party’s commitment to fighting corruption. He further added, “This is probably why Mahatma Gandhi Ji recommended that Congress be disbanded after Independence.”

The incident involving Revanth Reddy is not an isolated case. In the past, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had alleged that the then AICC Telangana incharge Manickam Tagore had engaged in the sale of TPCC positions.

Sharing a news report, the IT Minister highlighted, “According to Telangana’s Congress MP Venkat Reddy, one All India Congressman sells the TPCC post while another buys it for ₹50 Crore. And Rahul Gandhi lectures the world on Corruption. Scamgress lives up to its Name.”

The BRS’s accusations against the Congress have put the opposition party in a defensive position. The Congress has denied the allegations, but the controversy has cast a shadow on its anti-corruption campaign.

Analysis

The BRS’s accusations against the Congress are part of a larger political strategy to discredit the opposition party and undermine its support base. The BRS is the dominant political force in Telangana, and it is keen to maintain its hold on power in the upcoming state assembly elections.

The Congress is the main challenger to the BRS in Telangana. The party has been trying to regain its lost ground in the state by focusing on issues such as corruption and unemployment.

The BRS’s accusations against the Congress of corruption have the potential to damage the party’s image and erode its support base. However, the Congress is likely to counter these accusations and try to turn the tide in its favor.

The controversy over the alleged ‘Note for Seat’ scam is likely to have a significant impact on the upcoming state assembly elections in Telangana. The outcome of the elections will depend on how the two main parties, the BRS and the Congress, are able to mobilize their respective support bases and counter the other party’s allegations.
