Dr. Philips Apologizes to Samantha, Blasts Her Doctors

Dr. Abby Philips, also known as TheLiverDoc on social media, has apologized to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu but harshly criticized her doctors, calling them “businessmen” and “frauds.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who has been open about her Myositis diagnosis since 2022, recently advised her followers to use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and distilled water for common viral infections instead of taking unnecessary pills. Dr. Philips also addressed Samantha’s response to his initial criticism, calling her a “serial offender” for endorsing unscientific and baseless alternative medicine therapies. 4th Case of Deadly Brain-Eating Amoeba in Kerala

Kozhikode, Kerala: Another case of amoebic meningoencephalitis, a rare and deadly brain infection caused by an amoeba in contaminated water, has been reported in Kerala. A 14-year-old boy from Payyoli in North Kerala is currently being treated for the infection at a private hospital.

This marks the fourth case since May, all involving children. Sadly, three of the infected children have died.

In the latest case, the boy was admitted to the hospital on July 1. A doctor treating him reported that his condition is improving thanks to the prompt identification of the infection and immediate treatment with medicines, including some from abroad.

Earlier this week, another 14-year-old boy from Kozhikode succumbed to the infection. Prior to that, a 5-year-old girl from Malappuram and a 13-year-old girl from Kannur died on May 21 and June 25, respectively.

To prevent further infections, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan held a meeting on Friday. It was suggested that people avoid bathing in unclean water bodies and ensure proper chlorination of swimming pools. Children, who are most affected by this disease, should be especially cautious when entering water bodies. Using swimming nose clips was also recommended to prevent infection.

Experts explained that the infection occurs when the amoeba enters the body through the nose from contaminated water.

Previously, cases of this disease were reported in coastal Alappuzha district in 2023 and 2017.

Bihar Government Takes Action After 10 Bridges Collapse

After ten bridges fell in Bihar within two weeks, the government has suspended 15 engineers for alleged negligence. Show-cause notices were also sent to two construction companies, asking why they shouldn’t be blacklisted.

Since June 18, bridges have collapsed in Kishanganj, Araria, Madhubani, East Champaran, Siwan, and Saran. Four of these collapses occurred in Siwan alone.

In response, the government has started the process of blacklisting contractors and withholding payments to some. The water resources department suspended 11 officials, including executive, assistant, and junior engineers. The rural works department suspended four current and former engineers.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has demanded an inspection report on all under-construction and old bridges in Bihar within two weeks.

Two Tourists from Hyderabad Killed by Falling Rocks in Uttarakhand

Two tourists from Hyderabad, Nirmal Shahi (36) and Satya Narayana (50), died in a landslide accident in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Saturday. The accident happened on the Badrinath National Highway near Chatwapeepal, between Gauchar and Karnaprayag, while they were returning from a Himalayan temple on a motorcycle.

Heavy rains caused the landslide, leading to boulders rolling down the hill and hitting the tourists. Police have recovered their bodies from the rubble.

The heavy rains have caused multiple landslides, blocking the Badrinath National Highway in more than six places. The blocked spots include Kameda, Bhanir Pani, Pagalnala, Pinola, and Kanchanganga. The Rudraprayag-Kedarnath National Highway is also blocked.

Personnel from the National Highways Authority of India and the Border Roads Organisation are working to clear the roads. As a safety measure, all schools in the Rudraprayag district were closed on Saturday.

The meteorological department has issued a red alert for “heavy to very heavy rainfall” in the Kumaon and Garhwal regions for Saturday and Sunday, advising people to stay away from water bodies during this time.
