Tension in Hyderabad: Youth Attacked, Forced to Chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’

Hyderabad, June 11 – Tension broke out in the Raidurgam area under Cyberabad police limits late on Tuesday night after a group of Muslim youths were attacked by men allegedly linked to right-wing groups.

The incident happened near a hotel around midnight on June 10. According to the victims, a group of men carrying sticks and swords entered the hotel, damaged the pantry and furniture, and then chased and beat up some Muslim youngsters. The attackers also forced them to chant “Jai Shri Ram.”

After hearing about the attack, more young men from Shaikpet arrived at the scene and raised slogans in protest. The injured victims believe it was a planned attack meant to disturb peace in the area and said that people were targeted because of their religion.

The police responded quickly and formed special teams to track down those responsible. This incident adds to a recent series of similar events in Hyderabad.

Just two days earlier, on June 8, a cattle transporter was attacked in Attapur. In another case the same day, some people burned a vehicle carrying animal waste in Jalpally, a day after Bakrid.

In NM Guda, Attapur, members of a group called “Kataar Gau Raksha Dal” stopped an auto-rickshaw with two bulls, assaulted the driver, and damaged the vehicle. This led to clashes between two groups, and when the police tried to control the situation, stones were thrown, injuring three officers.

The police have registered multiple cases in Attapur and Mailardevpally and are searching for others involved. On Monday, they arrested 25 people connected to the violence related to animal sacrifice during Eid ul-Adha.

Many activists say that violence in Hyderabad has increased around Bakrid this year. They blame the rise of right-wing groups and claim the current Congress government is failing to keep the situation under control.

Hyderabad Tragedy: 2 Techies Die in Late-Night Crash After Party

A fun night out turned tragic in Hyderabad when two young techies lost their lives in a car accident. The victims, Bhatula Bhargav Yadav and Chethi Varshith, both 23 years old, died early Sunday morning after their car crashed on the way back from a party.

The group of friends, all software engineers, had gathered at Vihari Nature’s Nest farmhouse on Friday night to celebrate. The party went on till about 2:30 am. After the celebration, the friends headed out in two cars — one driven by a hired driver and the other by Praveen, a friend from the group.

According to reports, the group went looking for food after the party but couldn’t find any open eateries. While returning, the car driven by Praveen, a Hyundai Creta, lost control near Edulabad. The vehicle hit two electric poles and then a tree.

The crash was so intense that the rear passenger door flew open, and Bhargav and Varshith, who were sitting in the back seat, were thrown out. Sadly, both of them died on the spot due to severe injuries.

Police said the crash was likely caused by rash and drunk driving. Liquor bottles were found at the farmhouse, and samples from Praveen have been collected to test for alcohol. The families were informed around 3 am after the second group of friends alerted the police.

A case has been registered against Praveen for causing death by negligence under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to others who were present at the party.

Young Man Loses ₹6,800 in Online Vape Scam in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A young man, new to Hyderabad, lost ₹6,800 in an online scam while trying to buy a vape — a product that is banned in India. He has now decided to file a police complaint and is warning others not to fall for similar tricks.

According to a post he shared on Reddit, the young man felt peer pressure to try vaping and looked online for options in Hyderabad. He found an image with contact details through a Google search and then contacted the seller. The conversation soon moved to WhatsApp.

The seller sent pictures of different vape flavours, and the man chose “blueberry ice.” He was asked to pay ₹1,800 through a QR code, with a promise that the vape would be delivered in 30 minutes.

Soon after, the seller claimed there were “security concerns” and asked for another ₹4,999, saying it would be refunded. Worried about losing his first payment, the victim sent the second amount too.

The scammer kept calling and assuring him that everything was fine. Later, he demanded another ₹4,999, saying the previous payment got “stuck.” That’s when the young man realized he was being scammed.

Around the same time, an SBI bank representative called him and said the account he had paid into was marked as fraudulent. They advised him to file a complaint immediately.

The victim tried to report the scam online, but the websites kept crashing. He said, “My monthly pocket money is gone. I can’t survive in this city without it.”
