Karimnagar district has emerged as a champion in both the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme and the disbursement of bank loans under various government initiatives. This remarkable achievement was lauded by Collector Pamela Satpathy during a review meeting with bankers on Wednesday.

Leading the Way in PMFME:

Karimnagar secured the top spot in the entire state for successfully grounding 572,190 units under the PMFME scheme.
Bakery, spices, flour mills, and rice-based units were among the key areas benefiting from this initiative.
This impressive accomplishment highlights the district’s commitment to empowering micro-entrepreneurs in the food processing sector.

Championing Bank Loan Disbursement:

As of February 13, 2024, Karimnagar surpassed its target by disbursing a staggering ₹67,769.26 crore in bank loans to 10,643 self-help groups (SHGs).
This represents a remarkable 105.83% achievement of the set target, showcasing the district’s dedication to financial inclusion and empowerment.

JEE Main 2024: Unfair Percentiles? Aspirants Outraged!

JEE Main 2024: Aspirants Cry Foul Over Inconsistent Percentiles Across Sessions

Hyderabad: Candidates who took the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 session-1 are raising concerns about disparities in percentile calculations across the exam’s 10 sessions held between January 27th and February 2nd. They allege inconsistent marking and percentile allocation by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The Glaring Issue:

Aspirants point to significant variations in percentiles achieved for the same marks scored in different sessions. For instance, the 99th percentile mark differed by a staggering 82 points (233 vs. 151) between sessions on January 27th and January 31st. This translates to a candidate scoring 120 marks on January 31st receiving a much higher percentile (93%) compared to someone scoring the same 120 marks on January 27th (90%).

Suspected Cause:

Students suspect these discrepancies stem from the uneven distribution of test-takers across sessions. They argue this disadvantageous placement unfairly lowers their chances of qualifying for JEE Advanced, which uses JEE Main percentiles as an eligibility criterion.

Demands and Frustrations:

Aspirants are demanding transparency and corrective action from the NTA. They express disappointment, with some feeling that “JEE Main is reduced to a matter of luck instead of talent” (Keerthana, an aspirant). The lack of official response from the NTA further fuels their frustration.

Overall Impact:

These inconsistencies raise concerns about the fairness and standardization of the JEE Main process. This issue requires immediate attention from the NTA to ensure equal opportunity and merit-based selection for all aspirants, regardless of the session they were assigned to.

EFLU Clashes: Protests, Injuries & Divided Campus

Clashing Protests and Injured Students at EFLU: Two Sides of the Story

Hyderabad: Tensions ran high at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus on Monday evening, as protests by rival student groups resulted in three injuries. The incident unfolded amid differing agendas and accusations, highlighting a divided student body.

ABVP Seeks GBM Resolution and Elections: One side, represented by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), staged a protest demanding a resolution to the ongoing issue surrounding the university’s General Body Meeting (GBM) and the scheduling of student union elections.

Students Collective Protests “Chaos”: The other side, under the banner of the EFLU Students’ Collective, held a human chain demonstration within the campus. Their protest stemmed from allegations of “chaos” allegedly created by the ABVP during the February 9th GBM.

Claims of Violence and Inaction: The situation escalated, with both sides making accusations of physical assault. The ABVP claimed a PWD student supporting them was severely injured by members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Fraternity Movement (FM) units. The FM countered, alleging their media convener and an executive committee member were beaten by ABVP members during the protest. Additionally, both sides accused the university health center of denying them fair treatment.

Police Involvement and Pending Complaints: The incident prompted intervention from the Osmania University Police Station, with both student groups registering complaints against each other.

Remaining Questions: This event exposes a divided student body at EFLU and raises questions about accountability within the university. Was there truly “chaos” at the GBM? Did excessive force play a role in the reported injuries? How will the university address these concerns and ensure the safety of its students?

This rewritten article aims to present a balanced perspective by highlighting the key points from both sides and raising crucial questions surrounding the incident.
