In a swift operation, Hyderabad police apprehended three individuals for running an illegal online cricket betting racket. The arrests took place on Tuesday based on a tip-off received by the authorities.

The accused, identified as B Uday Simha Reddy (40), Md Faheemuddin (27), and M Bhanu Prasad (29), all residents of Dilsukhnagar, were allegedly accepting bets for the ongoing Legends Cricket Trophy 2024. Police seized ₹1.5 lakh in cash, two laptops, and five mobile phones believed to be connected to their illegal activities.

Cyberabad Special Ops Raid: 197 Illegal Liquor Bottles Seized in Crackdown

A special police team in Cyberabad raided some shops that were selling alcohol illegally. They seized a total of 197 bottles of liquor. This happened after they got a tip-off about these shops operating unlawfully in areas like Chandanagar, Attapur, Rajendranagar, Chevella, Shankarpally, Chowdarigudem, and Moinabad.

The value of the confiscated goods is estimated to be around Rs 1.34 lakh. Officials from the Cyberabad Special Operations Team mentioned that the shopkeepers were breaking the law by selling alcohol without proper permits, just to make money.

Hyderabad IT student Abdul Mohammed missing in US, ransom call received

Abdul Mohammed, a 25-year-old from Hyderabad studying for a Master’s in IT at Cleveland University, has been missing since March 7, 2024. His family has not heard from him since then.

The situation took a worrying turn when Abdul’s father, Mohammed Saleem, received a ransom call demanding $1200 for his son’s release. The caller claimed Abdul had been kidnapped by a drug gang in Cleveland and threatened to sell his kidney if the ransom wasn’t paid.

Concerned about Abdul’s safety, his family filed a missing person report with the Cleveland police on March 18. They have also reached out to the Indian Council in Chicago for assistance.

Hyderabad Man Mallikarjun Murdered by Unidentified Persons

Mallikarjun, a resident of Laxmi Narsimha colony in Hyderabad, was murdered by unidentified persons on Tuesday afternoon.

Two men came to his house and lured him outside on the pretense of discussing an issue. They then took him to a secluded area away from the colony and stabbed him to death, according to Nagole police.

Upon receiving information about the crime, the police arrived at the scene and formed special teams to apprehend the attackers. A murder case has been registered.

Man Arrested for Tampering with Food in Telangana

A street vendor in Nekkonda mandal, Warangal district, was arrested after being filmed tampering with food. The man, identified as Kaaluram Kurbia from Rajasthan, was allegedly seen masturbating and contaminating a container of ice cream or falooda.

The disturbing act was captured on camera.

Acting on the information, Nekkonda police apprehended Kurbia. A case has been registered against him under IPC Section 294 for committing an indecent act in public.

Two employees of Bhuvanteza Infra Projects Pvt Ltd, J. P. Bhushanaa Rao and J. Raj Kumar, were arrested by the Central Crime Station police in Hyderabad for allegedly cheating around 300 customers.

The scam involved pre-launch offers for flats in a gated community at Shamirpet. The company collected substantial deposits from the customers totaling Rs 80 crore. However, they neither completed the project nor returned the money to the depositors.

Telangana SHG Rs.10L Accident Insurance!

Telangana Announces Rs 10 Lakh Accidental Insurance Cover for 64.35 Lakh SHG Members

The Telangana government has announced a new group accidental insurance scheme for the 64.35 lakh members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state. The scheme will provide a coverage of Rs 10 lakh to each SHG member in case of accidental death. This applies to SHG members in both urban and rural areas.

The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department has released Rs 96.35 crore to the Stree Nidhi Cooperative Federation Limited for implementing the scheme. An additional Rs 50.41 crore will be released in four installments to create a risk fund for women members of SHGs for the first year.

The scheme will cover the loans obtained by SHGs from banks under the SHG linkage program, with a maximum of Rs 2 lakh loan outstanding per member. The Stree Nidhi Cooperative Federation will be responsible for issuing operational guidelines for the scheme.

The central government has given Telangana a new vehicle registration code: TG. This replaces the previous code, “TS”.

The Government of India approves TS to TG on vehicle registration plates. the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways issued a gazette notification effective immediately, that is, March 12, 2024. This change aims to enhance regulatory clarity and effectiveness,” the statement added.

An official notification confirming the change was released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The news came from the office of Telangana’s Special Representative in New Delhi, Mallu Ravi.

A journalist, Venkatesh, from the Praja Jyothi newspaper was allegedly assaulted in Chennur, Mancherial district, on Monday. The attack is suspected to be linked to a recent report by Venkatesh exposing potential corruption involving some Congress leaders.

Venkatesh was reportedly attacked by unidentified individuals with a sharp object around 10 pm. He sustained facial injuries and, in a video he released, accused a local Congress leader and his associates of being behind the assault. This, he claims, is a consequence of his report on an alleged connection between Congress leaders and a suspect in a PDS smuggling case.

Former Chennur MLA, Balka Suman, condemned the attack and urged the Director General of Police (DGP) to take swift action against the perpetrators.
