Woman Alleges Police Torture in Shadnagar

Sunita, a resident of Ambedkar Colony in Shadnagar, has accused the Shadnagar police of torturing her. She was brought to the police station after being linked to a theft case involving gold and cash stolen from a house on July 24.

Nagendra from Ambedkarnagar reported the theft, claiming that 24 tolas of gold and Rs. 2 lakh in cash were stolen.

Sunita said the police brought her, her husband Bheemaiah, and their 13-year-old son to the station. Bheemaiah was later released. Sunita alleged that police officers tied her hands and legs with ropes and beat her with leather belts while demanding a confession. This happened in front of her son. After the torture, Sunita was released and sent home.

The police found one tola of gold and Rs. 4,000 in cash from Sunita. She was then allowed to go home.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, B. Rajesh, said an inquiry into the incident has been ordered. The Cyberabad Commissioner of Police, Avinash Mohanty, has temporarily moved Shadnagar Detective Inspector Rami Reddy to the Commissioner’s office while the investigation is ongoing. ACP Shadnagar is conducting the inquiry, and further actions will be based on its findings.

Police in Cyberabad arrested K Ramesh (22), a resident of Moosapet originally from Siddipet district, on Tuesday night in Nacharam. They seized 320 grams of ganja and a motorbike from him.

Investigators believe Ramesh was obtaining ganja from someone named Raju in Cheriyal and then selling it to customers within Hyderabad.

A special police team in Cyberabad raided some shops that were selling alcohol illegally. They seized a total of 197 bottles of liquor. This happened after they got a tip-off about these shops operating unlawfully in areas like Chandanagar, Attapur, Rajendranagar, Chevella, Shankarpally, Chowdarigudem, and Moinabad.

The value of the confiscated goods is estimated to be around Rs 1.34 lakh. Officials from the Cyberabad Special Operations Team mentioned that the shopkeepers were breaking the law by selling alcohol without proper permits, just to make money.

Changes in Hyderabad Police Leadership: Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy Appointed Commissioner

In Hyderabad, there’s a change in the police leadership. Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy is now the new Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, taking over from Sandeep Shandhilya. Shandhilya has been assigned a new role as the Director of Telangana State Narcotics Bureau.

The Telangana government made these appointments on Tuesday, not just in Hyderabad but also in other zones. G Sudheer Babu, from the IPS batch of 2001, is now the Rachakonda Police Commissioner and Avinash Mohanthy is the new Commissioner of Police Cyberabad. Meanwhile, M Stephen Raveendra and D S Chauhan have been directed to report to the DGP office as part of the changes.
