Mancherial Journalist Attacked

Mancherial Journalist Attacked, Links to Local Congress Leader Suspected

A journalist, Venkatesh, from the Praja Jyothi newspaper was allegedly assaulted in Chennur, Mancherial district, on Monday. The attack is suspected to be linked to a recent report by Venkatesh exposing potential corruption involving some Congress leaders.

Venkatesh was reportedly attacked by unidentified individuals with a sharp object around 10 pm. He sustained facial injuries and, in a video he released, accused a local Congress leader and his associates of being behind the assault. This, he claims, is a consequence of his report on an alleged connection between Congress leaders and a suspect in a PDS smuggling case.

Former Chennur MLA, Balka Suman, condemned the attack and urged the Director General of Police (DGP) to take swift action against the perpetrators.
