NEET-UG Paper Leak: Solver Gang Member Arrested

Solver Gang Member Received Solved NEET-UG Question Paper PDF Before Exam, Says Bihar Police

The Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has arrested Baldev Kumar, also known as Chintu, a member of a “solver gang” that was involved in leaking the NEET-UG exam paper. Kumar, along with four others, was arrested in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district on Sunday and taken to a Patna court, which put them in jail.

Baldev Kumar got a PDF of the solved NEET-UG question paper on his phone on May 4, the day before the exam. The EOU revealed that Kumar is connected to Sanjeev Kumar, the main person behind the “solver gang,” who is still on the run.

Baldev Kumar is from Bihar Sharif in Nalanda district but was living in Patna. The other arrested members are Mukesh Kumar from Patna, Panku Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, and Paramjit Singh, all from Nalanda.

Before their arrest, Mukesh Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, and Paramjeet Singh were already suspects in the case. The EOU tracked them down using intelligence and technical investigation. They found partially burnt papers at Learn Boys Hostel and Play School in Patna, which were sent for forensic analysis.

The EOU explained that Baldev Kumar got the PDF on May 5, and printed copies were made using a Wi-Fi printer at the school. Candidates were grouped and asked to memorize the answers. The gang also arranged for discreet transportation of the candidates to the school using a taxi owned by Mukesh Kumar, who was also arrested.

During the investigation, roll code details of 15 suspicious candidates were found, and four have been questioned so far. The EOU confirmed that the half-burned question papers matched those from the Oasis School exam center in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, and found evidence of tampering.

The EOU also found duplicate SIM cards and a suspicious envelope box in Jharkhand, indicating the involvement of a larger inter-state gang. The EOU took over the investigation from Patna Police on May 17 and plans to hand the case over to the CBI. Earlier, on May 5, Patna Police had arrested 13 people related to the paper leak.

AI Solutions to Revolutionize Parking in Telangana: Minister’s Initiative to Tackle Urban Traffic Issues

Hyderabad: Soon, Artificial Intelligence (AI) might help you find parking in Hyderabad and across Telangana.

IT Minister D Sridhar Babu has asked the IT department’s engineers to create plans using AI to solve parking problems. This follows Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s request for solutions to traffic and parking issues in cities.

AI can offer many solutions to these problems. With limited space, the Minister suggested building more multi-level parking lots. He said this after seeing a presentation by a private company at the Secretariat on Saturday.

A statement from the Minister’s office mentioned that the use of personal vehicles has increased significantly. In Hyderabad alone, there are 1.4 million cars, 70,000 cabs, and 100,000 auto rickshaws.

Parking has become a big issue, especially on roadsides and in shopping areas. “Using AI, we should identify busy areas and develop apps to let people book parking spots in advance,” said Sridhar Babu. He also mentioned consulting companies that develop AI solutions for this.

Many countries already use AI to solve parking issues. The Minister suggested studying these services to introduce similar ones that meet local needs.

Bhavani Revanna: Power Behind the Scandal

Bhavani Revanna, mother of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, is in the spotlight after being identified as the mastermind in the abduction of one of Prajwal’s alleged sexual assault victims. Earlier this week, she was granted anticipatory bail by the Karnataka High Court.

Bhavani, 55, gained public attention in December 2023 when a video of her angry outburst went viral. After her luxury car was involved in an accident with a motorcyclist near Saligrama in Mysuru, she angrily confronted the motorcyclist without checking on the injured villagers. “Burn that motorcycle,” she yelled.

The car involved was registered to Ashpra Infra Engineers, a company owned by businessman Kiran Reddy, who has business connections with Bhavani and her husband H D Revanna, a JD(S) MLA and former state minister.

For over two decades, the Revanna family has been influential in Hassan and nearby areas, largely due to the political legacy of Revanna’s father, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda. Although Revanna, 66, is the political face of the family, Bhavani is considered the real boss. She has political ambitions of her own and has sought a JD(S) ticket for the Assembly multiple times, though she has only attained the position of a zilla panchayat member so far.

Bhavani’s younger son, Prajwal, entered politics in 2019, supposedly at her insistence, abandoning an MBA program in Australia to run for the Hassan Lok Sabha seat. Bhavani’s strong influence and the family’s dominant approach have put Prajwal and Revanna in a difficult political position, even before the sexual assault allegations against Prajwal surfaced.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating these allegations has accused Bhavani of trying to protect her son by masterminding the abduction of a victim to prevent her from filing a complaint. During the bail hearing, the prosecutor described Bhavani as the “kingpin” behind this scheme.

The Karnataka High Court, in granting Bhavani anticipatory bail, noted the significant role women play in family life and emphasized the need for caution in custodial interrogations of women.

Bhavani and seven others, including her husband, are now under investigation for their alleged involvement in the abduction and hiding of a victim of Prajwal’s alleged sexual assaults. The SIT has registered three cases against Prajwal based on evidence from videos of the assaults.

According to reports, around 40 rounds were fired at Joon. The footage shows him attempting to flee behind the counter as the attackers, dressed in orange and white shirts, relentlessly pursue him. Panicked customers are seen scrambling for safety as the gunmen unload their weapons.
