Chicken Prices Plunge 50% in Hyderabad During Karthika Masam

HYDERABAD, India – Chicken prices in Hyderabad have plummeted by half amid the ongoing Karthika Masam festivities. The price of skin-on chicken has dropped to Rs 151 per kg, while skinless chicken is now selling for Rs 172 per kg. These are the lowest prices observed in the past several months.

The decline in chicken prices is attributed to a decrease in demand during Karthika Masam, a Hindu holy month that is considered highly auspicious. Many devotees choose to abstain from meat during this period, opting for vegetarian food instead.

This annual trend of reduced chicken demand during Karthika Masam has been observed by local chicken shop owners. Abhilash Babu, a chicken trader, said, “Karthika Masam has affected our business. Meat consumption came down and prices also went down due to poor demand. Every year, the demand for chicken drops during this period. The price fell significantly this year due to increased production but decreased demand.”

Market experts anticipate that chicken prices will stabilize by the end of the Karthika month and remain at the current levels for the next few weeks.

KCR Pledges to Establish an IT Park for Muslim Youths in Hyderabad if BRS Retains Power

HYDERABAD, INDIA – In a bid to woo minority voters, BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that his government will set up a special Information Technology park for minority youths near Hyderabad if they are voted to power again in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a rally at Maheshwaram, Rao said that his government treats Muslims and Hindus as two eyes and takes everyone along. He pointed out that his government has taken several steps to uplift the minority community, including providing pensions, opening residential schools, and spending Rs 12,000 crore towards minority development during the past 10 years.

He also asserted that Telangana is a peaceful state with no law and order issues and that his government has implemented several schemes for the welfare of farmers, including providing 24 hours of free power and the Rythu Bandhu investment support scheme.

“If the BRS is voted to power again, not only will the Rythu Bandhu scheme be continued, but the amount under it would be increased to Rs 16,000 gradually from the existing Rs 10,000 per annum,” Rao said.

He also criticized the Congress party, accusing them of saying that they would give power only for three hours and that the Dharani (an integrated land administration portal) would be dumped in the Bay of Bengal. “The Congress’s move may result in the resumption of the middlemen regime,” he said.

Rao urged the people to think and make a decision as to whom they should vote, saying that the vote would change the future of the state for the next five years.

Popular YouTuber Arrested in Connection with Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour Fire

VISAKHAPATNAM, India – A popular YouTuber and fisherman, Local Boy Nani, has been arrested in connection with a fire that gutted nearly 40 mechanized boats at the Vishakapatnam fishing harbour in the early hours of Monday.

Nani’s involvement in the incident is suspected as he had uploaded a video of the fire on his social media channels, which has since gone viral with over 1.5 million views. In the video, Nani is seen discussing the accident on an emotional note and arguing with the police about the delay in reaching the firefighters at the spot and the damage to hard-earned property.

However, some have criticized Nani for recording the video instead of lending a hand in dousing the fire. Regional broadcast channels have also reported conflicting accounts of the incident.

One channel reported that the fire was started after a clash erupted at a party that Nani had thrown for his friends to celebrate his wife’s baby shower. Upon reaching jetty number one, the fire spread to the other boats.

Another channel reported that Nani sold one of the boats to someone, and as the person couldn’t make his full payment, Nani had to burn the ferry.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate of Vishakapatnam, Dr. A. Mallikarjuna, has ordered a preliminary enquiry and asked for a detailed report on the lost property within 2 days.

The Andhra Pradesh government has also said that the fishermen whose boats were damaged would be compensated with 80 per cent of the boat value.

Nani is currently under police custody and further investigation is ongoing.

Chicken Sales Skyrocket as Telangana Parties Host Lavish Feasts

Hyderabad, Telangana:  With Telangana elections just around the corner, political campaigns are in full swing, and parties are pulling out all the stops to attract voters. In a rather unusual tactic, some parties have resorted to hosting lavish non-veg feasts, leading to a surge in chicken sales across the state.

A prominent party leader from Mancherial has garnered attention for his daily practice of feeding hundreds of people at his residence. This MLA candidate reportedly orders and prepares around 400-500 kg of chicken each day, transforming his house into a makeshift banquet hall.

This extravagant display of generosity is not an isolated incident. Candidates from other constituencies are also following suit, ordering and preparing 100-200 kg of chicken daily to feed their supporters and the general public attending their rallies.

The surge in demand has had a significant impact on the local chicken market. Estimates suggest that up to 2 tonnes of chicken are being sold in Telangana every day, a remarkable increase in consumption.

While these non-veg feasts may seem like a harmless way to woo voters, some critics have raised concerns about the ethical implications of such practices. They argue that these lavish gatherings could potentially induce or influence voters, undermining the integrity of the electoral process.

Moreover, the environmental impact of these feasts cannot be ignored. The production and consumption of meat have a significant carbon footprint, and the disposal of food waste from these events further exacerbates environmental concerns.

As the Telangana elections approach, it remains to be seen whether these non-veg feasts will have a lasting impact on voter behaviour. However, one thing is certain: the demand for chicken in Telangana is soaring, and the poultry industry is reaping the benefits.

Chandrababu Naidu Granted Bail in Skill Development Scam Case

Hyderabad, India – In a significant development, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday granted bail to TDP chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the multi-crore skill development scam case. Naidu was on conditional medical bail for four weeks prior to this ruling.

Naidu’s arrest on September 9, 2023, stemmed from allegations of irregularities amounting to ₹3,300 crore in the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) during his tenure as Chief Minister. The Andhra Pradesh Police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) initiated a probe into the case in March 2023 following notices issued to former Indian Railway Traffic Service officer Arja Srikanth, who served as the APSSDC’s CEO in 2016. The investigation was based on statements provided by an accused-turned-approver and depositions made by three IAS officers.

The High Court’s granting of bail to Naidu comes as a major relief to the TDP chief and his supporters. While the investigation into the scam continues, Naidu’s release from custody is expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh.
