Mathura: Over 60 Fall Ill After Eating Kuttu Ke Pakore on Janmashtami

Mathura, August 27: Over 60 people in Mathura, including women and children, fell ill after eating fritters (pakore) made from buckwheat flour (kuttu ka atta) during Janmashtami. The flour was contaminated, causing symptoms like vomiting, dizziness, and shivering in those who consumed it. The incident happened in several villages under the Farah police station area.

Health officials acted quickly to provide medical care to the affected individuals. The authorities also sealed the shops that sold the contaminated flour and filed a case against the vendors responsible.

Locals who bought the flour from these shops reported severe symptoms after eating it. One resident from Parkham village mentioned that people began feeling dizzy and sick soon after eating the fritters. Another local shared that his wife became so weak she could barely stand.

Dr. Bhudev Prasad, head of the Health Department’s Rapid Response Team, confirmed that they received multiple complaints of food poisoning from different villages overnight. Teams from the Health Department, Farah Community Health Centre, and District Hospital responded quickly to address the situation.

The affected individuals, including children, are currently receiving medical attention at various hospitals across the city. “Since Friday, people have been admitted to different hospitals and are undergoing treatment,” stated Ashraf, a relative of one of the affected individuals.
