Mumbai: In a rare sight, billionaire businessman Niranjan Hiranandani, the co-founder and managing director of Hiranandani Group, a real estate giant, ditched his luxury car and hopped on a local train to reach his destination in time, avoiding the city’s notorious traffic jams.

Hiranandani, who has a net worth of $1.5 billion as of December 2023, shared a video of his train journey from Mumbai to Ulhasnagar on Instagram, where it quickly garnered millions of views and comments. He captioned the video as “Saving Time and beating Traffic with the City’s Lifeline a journey from Mumbai to Ulhasnagar in an AC coach was an insightful personal experience.”

The video shows the 73-year-old entrepreneur waiting at the platform with other commuters, boarding an air-conditioned coach, and interacting with fellow passengers during the 30-minute ride. He also added a piece of trending background music from the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal Movie to the video, adding to its appeal.

Hiranandani’s decision to take the local train was strategic, as he had to attend an event at CHM College in Ulhasnagar, which would have taken hours by road. By choosing the train, he not only saved time but also got a chance to experience the city’s lifeline, which carries over 7.5 million passengers daily.

Many netizens praised Hiranandani for his humble and down-to-earth gesture, while some joked about his wealth and lifestyle. Some celebrities and social media influencers also commented on his post, expressing their surprise and admiration.

Karimnagar: Pamela Satpathy appointed as new Collector, Abhishek Mohanty as Commissioner of Police

Karimnagar: In an official announcement, Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari has appointed Pamela Satpathy as the new Collector of Karimnagar district. Abhishek Mohanty is also taking on a significant role as the Commissioner of Police for Karimnagar district.

Pamela Satpathy, who previously served as the Director of Municipal Administration in Hyderabad, will now lead Karimnagar as its Collector. Abhishek Mohanty, who was previously the Deputy Commissioner of Police for traffic in the Rachakonda commissionerate, has taken up the role of Commissioner of Police in Karimnagar district. These appointments were made in accordance with a government order issued on Monday.

World Cup Cricket Matches at Uppal Stadium: Traffic Diversions Announced

The Rachakonda Police have notified certain traffic diversions between 12.30 pm and 11.30 pm on Friday, Monday and Tuesday in view of the World Cup cricket matches to be held at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal.

  • From Warangal Highway towards Chengicherla: Diverted towards Chengicherla X road-Cherlapally-IOCL-NFC road.
  • From LB Nagar to Nagole: Diverted towards Nagole Metro Station to HMDA-Boduppal-Chengicherla X road.
  • From Mallapur towards Nacharam IDA: Diverted to Nacharam IDA to Cherlapally-Chengicherla.

Regular traffic

There will be no restrictions on the movement of regular traffic on the Uppal crossroads to Genpact.

Drunk Driver Causes Fatal Accident at Appa Junction

A man died in a road accident at Appa Junction in Hyderabad on Friday morning. The accident occurred when a speeding car lost control and crashed into an autorickshaw. The autorickshaw driver was killed on the spot, while two other passengers were injured.

The police said that the car was being driven by a 25-year-old man, who was under the influence of alcohol. He lost control of the car while negotiating a turn and crashed into the autorickshaw, which was coming from the opposite direction.

The deceased autorickshaw driver has been identified as Upender, 35, a resident of Narsingi. The two injured passengers, Arvind and Prakash, have been admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. They have also impounded the car.
