Hyderabad New Year Traffic Advisory: Important Updates for Safe Celebrations on December 31st

Getting ready for New Year’s Eve in Hyderabad? Here’s an important update from the Rachakonda police to ensure everyone’s safety on December 31.

If you’re planning to travel to the RGI Airport in your car or other small vehicles, you can use the Outer Ring Road (ORR) only if you show your flight tickets. This rule will be in effect from 11 pm on Sunday until 5 am the next day. But don’t worry, big trucks and heavy vehicles are allowed on the ORR during this time.

Also, note that several flyovers and underpasses like Nagole, Kamineni, LB Nagar, Bairamalguda (Sagar Ring Road), LB Nagar underpass, and Chinthalkunta underpass will be closed from 10 pm on Sunday until 5 am the next day.

Foolproof Security for ICC World Cup 2023 Matches in Hyderabad

The Rachakonda Police are making foolproof security arrangements for the ICC World Cup 2023 matches to be held on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

Key Security Measures

  • Around 1,500 personnel from Rachakonda Police, Telangana State Special Police, Armed Reserve, Central Crime Station, and traffic police will be deployed, apart from riot control force being on a standby.
  • Every inch of the stadium is covered by high-definition surveillance cameras.
  • A total of 360 CCTV cameras are installed in and around the stadium, including at vehicle checkpoints and parking places.
  • A joint command and control room is established at the stadium to monitor the surveillance footage for taking immediate action.
  • Anti-sabotage checks with the help of bomb detection teams will continue round-the-clock until the match is completed.
  • An effective communication system is being maintained with the allocation of VHF sets to every sub-inspector and above rank for quick response.
  • The police are setting up checkpoints at all the entry points of the stadium to carry out anti-sabotage checks and frisking of persons.
  • Separate teams are being deployed for checking the movements of antisocial elements.
  • Three mobile phone technicians are deployed at each gate for checking the mobile phones of spectators.
  • SHE Teams are deployed in and around the stadium to control eve teasing.
  • Vigilance teams are deployed to control the vendors and their rates as prescribed by the authorities.

Police Appeal

The police have appealed to the public to enjoy the matches with a sportsman spirit and show the “tehzeeb” of Hyderabad to the world. They have advised people to stay within their limits and not disturb or intrude on the personal space of others.

World Cup Cricket Matches at Uppal Stadium: Traffic Diversions Announced

The Rachakonda Police have notified certain traffic diversions between 12.30 pm and 11.30 pm on Friday, Monday and Tuesday in view of the World Cup cricket matches to be held at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal.

Heavy vehicles

  • From Warangal Highway towards Chengicherla: Diverted towards Chengicherla X road-Cherlapally-IOCL-NFC road.
  • From LB Nagar to Nagole: Diverted towards Nagole Metro Station to HMDA-Boduppal-Chengicherla X road.
  • From Mallapur towards Nacharam IDA: Diverted to Nacharam IDA to Cherlapally-Chengicherla.

Regular traffic

There will be no restrictions on the movement of regular traffic on the Uppal crossroads to Genpact.

Please note that these traffic diversions are subject to change at the discretion of the traffic police. It is advisable to plan your journey accordingly and allow extra time for travel.

 

Rachakonda Police Announces Traffic Restrictions for Ganesh Idol Immersion on Thursday

The Rachakonda police have announced traffic restrictions at various places in view of the Ganesh idol immersion event on Thursday.

Heavy Vehicle Restrictions

  • Heavy vehicles will not be allowed towards Malkajgiri from Mettuguda and will be diverted at Malkajgiri cross-roads.
  • Heavy vehicles from Chengicherla cross-roads towards Uppal will not be allowed towards Uppal cross roads and will be diverted towards NFC via IOCL and Chengicherla.
  • Heavy vehicles on other routes including Bairamalguda to Champapet, Neredmet to Safilguda Tank, RK Puram to ECIL and Lalaguda T Junction to Mirjalguda will also be restricted.

General Traffic Restrictions

  • At Saroornagar lake immersion point, vehicles will not be allowed towards Saroornagar Tank via Saroornagar post office side and Karmanghat side from 6 am on Thursday till 8 am the next day.
  • At Safilguda lake immersion point, general traffic from Malkajgiri will not be allowed towards Safilguda junction and traffic will not be allowed from AOC area towards Anandbagh and will be diverted towards Gouthamnagar. Traffic will not be allowed from Balaramnagar towards Safilguda and will be diverted towards Safilguda junction. Traffic from Vinayaknagar will not be allowed towards Safilguda junction and will be diverted towards DAV school.
  • At Kapra lake immersion point, the general traffic will not be allowed from Nethajinagar cross-roads and Yapral side towards Kapra Lake.

Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid the aforementioned routes during the restricted hours.
