New Flyover in Hyderabad to Reduce Traffic at Gachibowli
Hyderabad is about to open a major new flyover at Gachibowli to help reduce traffic on one of the city’s busiest roads. This will be the first third-level flyover in the city and is expected to open in the first week of June 2025. It connects the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Kondapur and aims to make travel smoother for thousands of people.
A Special Design
The flyover is 1.2 kilometers long and has six lanes. It was built at a cost of ₹178 crore under the city’s Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP). What makes it special is its three levels. The new flyover (Level 3) is built above two older flyovers already at Gachibowli—one at Level 1 and another at Level 2. This makes it a unique structure in the city.
Solving Traffic Problems
The Gachibowli junction often has heavy traffic because it connects key areas like the IT corridor, Financial District, Hitec City, and the airport. The new flyover will help vehicles move faster between ORR, Kondapur, and Hafeezpet, cutting down travel time and avoiding traffic jams.
Officials say it will be especially helpful for people who travel daily and for those heading to the airport, Hitec City, or the Financial District.
Part of a Bigger Plan
This is the 23rd flyover built under the SRDP and the 37th structure overall. The plan includes building 42 flyovers and other road improvements across the city to reduce traffic and avoid traffic signals. The Gachibowli flyover is one of the biggest projects in this plan.
The city is also working on other projects like railway overbridges in Falaknuma and Shastripuram to improve travel further.
Building for the Future
The government is investing in new roads, flyovers, and underpasses to prepare for Hyderabad’s fast growth. This is part of a larger plan called the H-City project.
Opening Soon
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will open the new flyover soon. Officials believe it will bring great relief to many commuters and support Hyderabad’s growth as a major tech and business city. Final construction work is being completed to ensure the flyover is ready on time.
