Telugu Actor Chandra Mohan Passes Away at 82

Hyderabad: Veteran Telugu actor Chandra Mohan passed away on Saturday at the age of 82. He was admitted to Hyderabad’s Apollo Hospital with heart-related ailments and breathed his last at 9:45 am, according to his family members.

Born Mallampalli Chandrasekhara Rao on May 23, 1943, in Pamidimukkala village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Mohan entered the Telugu film industry in 1966 with the film Rangula Ratnam. In 1968, he garnered acclaim for his role as the caring brother of Vanisri in Sukha Duhkalu, earning him several awards. Over the course of his career, Chandra Mohan starred in a remarkable 932 films.

Survived by his wife, Jalandhara, and two daughters, Chandra Mohan’s final rites will be held in Hyderabad on Monday.

Rs 16 Lakh Worth Ganja Seized in Kothagudem, Three Arrested

Kothagudem, Telangana: Excise personnel seized Rs 16 lakh worth of dry ganja being transported in a car at Morampalli Banjar in Burgampahad mandal in the district on Saturday.

Assistant Excise Superintendent Karamchand in a statement said that the Hyderabad Task Force, Khammam AC Enforcement, Kothagudem district Task Force, and Bhadrachalam excise station officers and staff conducted vehicle checks at Morampalli Banjar based on a tip-off.

While conducting vehicle checks, a car was found moving suspiciously. When the excise personnel tried to stop it, the driver did not stop the vehicle and drove a short distance before hitting a two-wheeler and an auto rickshaw and stopping on the side of the road.

On inspection, 63.5 kg of ganja was found in the car. Two accused, Tulsiraman and Ganesh Kumar of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, were caught, while another accused, Asaruthin of Tamil Nadu, escaped. The accused were transporting the cannabis from the Andhra-Orissa border to Chittoor.

Vizianagaram Train Accident: Death Toll Rises to 14

Vizianagaram Train Accident: Rescue operations are continuing in full swing at the Kantakapalli train accident site in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. The death toll in Sunday night’s train accident has risen to 14, with more than 100 people injured.

The injured were shifted to Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram hospitals. Officials have revealed that the death toll is likely to increase.

Another train collided with a train standing on the same track at Kantakapalli in Kothavalasa mandal of Vizianagaram district. The Visakha-Rayagada passenger train, which left Visakhapatnam, stopped on the tracks after the overhead electric wires were cut. Palasa-Visakha Express collided with this stopped passenger train from behind. As a result, the last three coaches of the Rayagada passenger train derailed and hit an oncoming goods engine.

The railway department has announced financial assistance of Rs.10 lakh to the families of the deceased, Rs.2 lakh to the injured and Rs.50 thousand to the slightly injured.

12 trains have been cancelled and 15 trains have been diverted in the wake of the accident.

Passenger Train Derails Near Kothavalasa, 7 Killed, 40 Injured

Kothavalasa: A passenger train en route from Visakhapatnam to Rayagada in Odisha derailed near Kothavalasa (M) Alamanda-Kantakapalli, situated in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday evening.
Railway officials have rushed to the site to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance.

According to initial reports, at least 7 persons has been killed and 40 others have been injured in the accident. The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The cause of the derailment is not yet known. However, railway officials are investigating the matter.

Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh Train Tickets Sold Out 3 Months Ahead of Sankranti

Hyderabad, October 09, 2023: Train tickets from Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh for the Sankranti festival season have sold out three months in advance, leaving many passengers stranded. The Sankranti festival is one of the biggest festivals in Andhra Pradesh, and many people travel to their hometowns to celebrate with their families.

According to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the trains going to Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Bhimavaram, Machilipatnam, Narasapur, Nellore and Tirupati from Hyderabad are already full between January 10 and 13, 2024.

I have been trying to book tickets for the past two weeks, but they are all sold out,” said K Nagababu, a techie from Hyderabad. “I am very disappointed, as I was really looking forward to celebrating Sankranti with my family.”

Railway officials said that they are planning to run special trains during the Sankranti season, but the schedule will be released closer to the festival.

“We are aware of the high demand for tickets during the Sankranti season,” said a railway official. “We are working on running special trains to meet the demand.”

Meanwhile, passengers are advised to book their tickets in advance, if possible. They can also check the IRCTC website for updates on special trains.

Dalit Man Tied to a Cattle Feeder in Andhra Pradesh

A Dalit man was tied to a cattle feeder in Shet Palli of Kotapalli Mandal in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. The man, identified as Ramireddy, was caught in the field by a group of men. They tied him with ropes to the mattu (Pathigunja), which is used to tie cattle while they eat sticks.

The locals freed Ramireddy after they saw him tied in front of the house. They then took him to the police station, where he filed a complaint. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

Man Attacked for Asking Young Couple What They Were Doing in Bushes

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh – A man was attacked on Saturday night after he asked a young couple what they were doing in the bushes.

The man, Madhusudhana Rao, was walking on a village road in Penuguduru, Karapa Mandal, when he saw the couple talking in the dark. He asked them what they were doing, and the boy attacked him.

The young lady also called her acquaintances, and two more people came to the scene and attacked Rao. He was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The police are investigating the incident. They have registered a case against the four attackers and are looking for them.

In a statement, the police said that Rao was a good Samaritan who was trying to protect the young lady from being harassed. They said that the attackers will be brought to justice.
