Mamnoor Airport Tensions: Farmers Protest Land Loss

Tension Near Mamnoor Airport Over Land Acquisition

The announcement of Mamnoor Airport in Warangal district was initially celebrated, with political leaders competing to take credit. However, farmers whose lands are being taken for the project have started protesting, demanding fair compensation.

The new airport will cover the main road connecting Nakkalapalli, Gunturpalli, and Nekkonda via Gavicharla Cross Road, which has raised concerns among farmers. They argue that they are losing more than they are gaining from the project. After repeatedly bringing up their issues with officials and receiving no proper response, they staged a protest. As a result, a heavy police force was deployed, and the land acquisition survey was temporarily halted.

Parakala MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy has urged the farmers to cooperate, assuring them of fair compensation. He held a meeting with affected farmers from Gadepally and Gunturpalli, stating that while compensation will be provided, the airport construction will not stop.

Meanwhile, the state government is pushing to complete the land acquisition quickly so that work on the airport can begin. Ruling party leaders are now trying to negotiate with the farmers to resolve the issue.

Hyderabad Builder Fined Rs 19.80 Lakh by TSRERA

Hyderabad: Builder Fined Rs 19.80 Lakh by TSRERA for Collecting Money Before Registration

The Telangana State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TSRERA) has fined TMR Infra Tech Rs 19.80 lakh for taking advance payments from buyers before registering their project, TMR Marvel Villas, with the authority.

Buyers of the villas in Macha Bollaram, near Alwal, complained that the builder failed to provide basic amenities and delayed the project. TSRERA ordered the builder to complete the pending work, including installing street lights, building a compound wall, and setting up a sewage treatment plant. The builder must also ensure proper water supply and drainage.

The authority has directed the company to finish all work before the project’s RERA registration expires in March 2025. The builder promised to complete the work by March 25, and TSRERA warned that failing to do so would lead to further action.

The fine was imposed because the builder collected payments from buyers between February and March 2018, while the necessary RERA registration was obtained only in October 2019. This was a violation of Section 3 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act.

The order was issued by TSRERA chairperson Dr. N. Satyanarayana and members K. Srinivasa Rao and Laxmi Narayana Jannu.

Telangana ACB Catches 23 Officials for Bribery

Telangana ACB Catches 23 Officials for Taking Bribes in February

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered 17 cases against government officials for accepting bribes in February. Out of these, 15 were trap cases, and two were related to officials owning assets beyond their known income. A total of 23 people, including two outsourced employees, were arrested, and Rs. 7.60 lakh in cash was seized.

Many government officials, who are supposed to serve the public, have been caught taking bribes instead. Some people are forced to pay extra money to get their work done, leaving them frustrated. As a result, they are directly reporting corruption to ACB, leading to more officials getting caught.

Recently, an official from the electricity department in Gachibowli was caught accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000. Upon investigation, ACB found he owned land worth Rs. 4 crore in Shankarpalli, along with valuable properties, buildings, and gold in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district, totaling about Rs. 100 crore.

The ACB has registered cases across multiple government departments, including Forest, Education, Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Electricity, and BC Welfare. In addition to cash seizures, properties worth Rs. 4.13 crore have been identified in two asset-related cases.

The ACB urges people to report corrupt officials by calling the toll-free number 1064.

TGSRTC Karimnagar Hired Drivers Protest Over Breath Tests

Hired Bus Drivers Protest Against Breathalyser Tests in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Hired bus drivers of TGSRTC staged a protest at the Karimnagar bus stand on Saturday, claiming they were being unfairly treated by the corporation officials.

The drivers said that even though they did not drink alcohol, breathalyzer tests showed high alcohol levels. However, when tested at traffic police stations, the results were zero.

They also mentioned that one of their colleagues, Suresh, was removed from duty six months ago due to a similar issue. They accused RTC officials of purposely harassing hired drivers and said they would meet the corporation’s MD, VC Sajjanar, to discuss the matter.

On Friday, Suresh tried to set himself on fire in front of Karimnagar Depot-1, frustrated over not being reinstated despite multiple requests. Security personnel stopped him in time by pouring water on him.

Suresh had lost his job in September 2024 after failing a breathalyzer test. Even though he repeatedly requested to return to work, officials did not allow it, pushing him to attempt suicide.
