Students Face Delays in Getting Certificates

Telangana: Students Struggle to Get Certificates as MROs Delay Processing

As the new academic year begins, students in Telangana are finding it difficult to get important certificates needed for college admissions, reservations, and scholarships. These include income, caste, OBC, and residential certificates.

Despite having specific timelines for issuing these documents, Mandal Revenue Offices (MROs) in Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Jangaon are facing delays. A total of 15,101 applications are still pending, according to data from local collectorates.

This delay is affecting many students. M Sai Krishna, a student waiting to attend engineering counselling, said he applied for his certificates online but was still asked to submit physical copies at the MRO office. Even after doing so, the status of his application showed “pending,” and he had to visit the office multiple times for updates. He also claimed that some people are paying middlemen to get their applications approved.

Revenue officials admitted that they are overwhelmed, especially in urban areas, with hundreds of applications coming in every day. They said that each application requires field verification, which takes time. A lack of staff and involvement in other government programmes, like the Bhu Bharathi Revenue Sadassulu, is also causing delays.

Warangal District Collector Satya Sharada said they are aware of the issue and will work to speed up the process of issuing pending certificates.
