Hyderabad Student Dies by Suicide Blaming College Pressure

Hyderabad: 16-Year-Old Intermediate Student Dies by Suicide Due to Pressure at College

A 16-year-old intermediate student, M Vaibhav, died by suicide at his house in Meerpet, Hyderabad, on Monday night. The boy was pursuing his first year of intermediate course at a corporate college in Chaitanyapuri.

According to the police, Vaibhav had been slipping into depression for the past few weeks allegedly due to the pressure at the college to study and score good marks. On Tuesday morning, he hanged himself to the ceiling fan in his house.

A note purportedly written by Vaibhav and left at the house blamed the principal and vice principal of the college for his death. The police have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code against the college management and are investigating further.

This tragedy is a reminder of the immense pressure that students face in today’s competitive educational system. It is important for schools and colleges to create a supportive and nurturing environment for students, and to focus on their holistic well-being, not just their academic performance.
