PM Modi to Hoist Saffron Flag at Ayodhya Ram Temple Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ayodhya today to hoist a saffron flag on the newly completed Ram Mandir, marking a major milestone in the temple’s construction. Thousands of people and several key leaders are expected to attend this important event.

Large Gathering Expected

Nearly 10,000 people, many of them long-time supporters of the Ram Temple movement, will be present. Among the prominent attendees are PM Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

This is the final ceremony related to the temple’s construction. PM Modi earlier performed the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ on 5 August 2020 and took part in the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony on 22 January 2024.

Significance of the Saffron Flag

The saffron flag PM Modi will hoist is a right-angled triangular flag, 10 feet tall and 20 feet long. It carries the symbol of a radiant Sun, an ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the flag represents dignity, unity, and the ideals of Ram Rajya.

The flag will be placed on a temple spire built in the traditional Nagara architectural style. The 800-metre Parkota surrounding the temple reflects south Indian architectural traditions, showing a blend of styles.

PM Modi’s Schedule in Ayodhya

During his visit, PM Modi will offer prayers at several temples within the complex, including the Saptamandir and the Sheshavtar Mandir. He will also visit the Mata Annapurna temple and offer prayers at the Ram Darbar Garbh Grah and the Ram Lalla Garbh Grah.

Around noon, he will hoist the saffron flag on the temple spire and then address the gathering.

A Day of Spiritual Significance

Today is considered an auspicious Panchami day and also marks the Vivah Panchami of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. It is also the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, who meditated in Ayodhya centuries ago. This adds even more spiritual significance to the event.

The temple complex features 87 carved stone scenes from the Valmiki Ramayana on its outer walls and 79 bronze cultural episodes along the enclosure, giving visitors a rich cultural experience.

Tight Security Arrangements

Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath reviewed all preparations in Ayodhya. A massive security setup of 6,970 personnel—including ATS commandos, NSG snipers, and cyber teams—has been deployed.

Anti-drone systems, advanced monitoring tools, bomb squads, dog squads, fire units, and rapid response teams are all active to ensure safety. Officials at every level are supervising crowd management and emergency arrangements to ensure the event runs smoothly.
