Pakistan to Join 2025-26 Hockey Pro League Season
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has confirmed that Pakistan’s men’s hockey team, also known as the Green Shirts, will take part in the 2025-26 season of the Hockey Pro League.
Pakistan earned this opportunity through the FIH Hockey Nations Cup held in Malaysia earlier this year. Although they lost the final to New Zealand, the Black Sticks later declined their place in the Hockey Pro League. As per the rules, the invitation was then extended to the runners-up, Pakistan, who accepted the offer.
FIH President Tayyab Ikram welcomed Pakistan’s return, calling it an important moment for world hockey. He said Pakistan’s comeback would not only highlight the nation’s rich hockey history but also boost the visibility of the Hockey Pro League. He congratulated the team for qualifying and joining the competition for the very first time.

In the upcoming season, Pakistan will compete against top teams like Argentina, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, India, Netherlands, and Spain. They will replace Ireland, who were relegated after finishing ninth in the last edition.
The FIH expressed excitement about Pakistan’s participation, expecting thrilling matches and greater diversity in the tournament. Details of the schedule and venues for the Hockey Pro League will be announced soon.
