Leopard Spotted in Hyderabad: Forest Dept Investigates
Leopard Sighting Report in Hyderabad Sparks Investigation
A video showing what seemed to be a leopard walking near Hyderabad’s Miyapur Metro station went viral on social media, prompting the forest department to take action on Friday night.
The forest department quickly dispatched teams, including the anti-poaching squad, to verify the video’s authenticity. However, officials suggest the location in the video might not be near the busy Metro station but could be from an area beyond the Metro depot, where green patches and tree lines exist.
A senior forest department official mentioned the possibility that the leopard could have wandered into the city from nearby scrub forests, such as those around Ameenpur. The forest department is not ruling out the sighting, as leopards have been known to stray into urban areas before. They have captured leopards from the ICRISAT campus in the past, and there was also an earlier incident involving a leopard in Jubilee Hills.
The situation is being closely monitored to ensure public safety.
