Hyderabad Man Swept Away in Balkampet Floods Dies

Hyderabad man dies after being swept away in Balkampet floodwater

A tragic incident took place in Hyderabad on Thursday night when a man returning home from work was swept away in floodwater at the Balkampet rail under bridge.

The victim, Mohammad Sharfuddin, a resident of Bholakpur in Musheerabad, worked at a food manufacturing plant in Balanagar. Despite heavy rain, he was on his way home to attend a family function.

Police said that when Sharfuddin reached the Balkampet rail under bridge, he tried to drive through the heavy water flow but lost control and was carried away by the gushing waters. Local people later found his body and pulled it out using a rope.

Sharfuddin is survived by his wife and young daughter. His family told the police that he regularly used the same route and had even called them before the incident, asking them to get ready for the function. They believe he might have been in a hurry and failed to notice the strong water flow.

The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem and later handed over to his relatives. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
