Heavy Rains Throw Life Out of Gear in Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Mahabubabad
Heavy rains since Monday night have caused severe flooding in Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Mahabubabad, disrupting traffic, public transport, and daily life. Many streets, markets, and low-lying areas are under water, with residents struggling to get around and blaming officials for poor drainage despite weather warnings.
In Warangal, several colonies like Hunter Road, NTR Nagar, Ramannapet, Shivanagar, Kareemabad, and Sakarashi Kunta were badly affected. In DK Nagar near Ursugutta, rainwater entered homes, forcing people to use buckets and utensils to remove it. Old Bitu Bazar, Clothes Bazar, and nearby areas were also flooded, with water even reaching the railway station.
Pedestrians had to wade through knee-deep water, and motorists found it hard to move on waterlogged roads. The Warangal–Khammam main road saw major traffic jams due to stagnant water.
Other areas like Kazipet, Hasanparthy, Reddypuram, Gokul Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and New Shayampet also faced heavy flooding. The Hanamkonda bus stand junction was submerged, disrupting TGRTC bus services and leaving passengers stranded.
According to rainfall reports, Sangem mandal recorded the highest rainfall of 20 cm, followed by Khila Warangal (14.8 cm), Wardhanapet (12 cm), Parvatagiri (10.7 cm), Warangal (9.5 cm), and Geesukonda (9.2 cm). Locals expressed frustration that authorities took no steps to clear water flow despite the forecast.
In Mahabubabad district, areas like Kothaguda and Gangaram were hit hard. Streams overflowed near Rallatoti, and the Paleru stream overflowed at the Danthalapally–Peddamupparam bridge, cutting off village connectivity and forcing commuters to take long detours.
