BRS rebel MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao likely to join Congress
Mynampally Hanumantha Rao announces candidature, likely to join Congress
Sitting MLA from Malkajgiri Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, who resigned from the BRS and rejected the party’s ticket to contest the ensuing Assembly elections, is likely to join the Congress shortly.
Rao has remained tight-lipped on his future plans, but State BJP leaders have openly said that he will not be allowed to join their party. Senior BJP leader and former MLC N Ramachander Rao said his party would not accept Rao as he had criticised the party leadership in the past.
“There is no place for Mynampally in the BJP. He has insulted our leaders and harassed our cadre,” he said recently, adding that Rao had “insulted” BJP national general secretary Bandi Sanjay several times, and hence there was no room for him in the party.
Meanwhile, Rao has said that a false campaign is being propagated that he was planning to contest from either Qutbullapur or Medchal constituencies.
“A vested interest campaign is being run that I might contest from Qutbullapur or Medchal constituencies but let me clarify that I will contest from Malkajgiri constituency,” he told the media at his residence in Dhulapally on Saturday.
Sources said that Rao is likely to join the Congress in the presence of either senior party leaders Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. He is expected to contest on a Congress ticket from Malkajigiri.
