Hyderabad Weather: Rains Cause Citywide Traffic Delays

Hyderabad Weather: Light Rains and Weekend Crowd Slow Traffic

The Hyderabad weather turned rainy on Friday evening (July 26, 2025), leading to slow-moving traffic across major roads in Hyderabad and Cyberabad. Light showers caused waterlogging in several areas, adding to the usual weekend traffic rush.

According to the Hyderabad Traffic Control Room, average delays of 5–6 minutes were reported at many busy junctions. Roads in Bible House, Chilkalguda Junction, Alugaddabavi, Mettuguda, Masab Tank, and Telangana Bhavan road in Banjara Hills were affected by water accumulation.

A traffic officer explained that due to slippery roads and poor visibility, vehicles that usually travel at 40 km/h had to slow down to 20 km/h. While there were no complete traffic jams, overall movement was slow.

In the Cyberabad area, key stretches around Madhapur, Raidurgam, and Gachibowli, especially the Hitec City route from IKEA to Kukatpally, experienced long traffic snarls.

Officials added that Hyderabad weather conditions combined with the usual Friday evening rush—when IT employees return home and weekend travel begins—made traffic even worse.
