Flash Floods in Texas Kill 32, 27 Campers Still Missing in Kerr County

Kerr County, Texas — At least 32 people, including 14 children, have died in devastating flash floods that hit Kerr County, Texas, over the weekend. Officials confirmed that eight of the victims remain unidentified as search and rescue teams continue working around the clock.

Among the most urgent concerns is the disappearance of 27 young girls who were attending a Christian summer camp along the Guadalupe River. The flash floods swept through the camp suddenly, catching many off guard. Emergency services are actively searching the area, with helicopters, boats, and volunteers helping in the effort.

“We are doing everything we can to find these girls,” said a spokesperson for the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office. “The community is heartbroken but united in hope.”

Heavy rainfall continues across much of Texas, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing new flood warnings for several counties. Emergency responders say the situation remains dangerous, and have urged residents to stay indoors and avoid flooded areas.

Kerrville, one of the hardest-hit towns, has suffered major damage to homes and infrastructure. Mayor Bill Blackburn called on residents to support one another. “Please keep our community in your prayers,” he said.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed an extended emergency declaration and has asked for federal disaster aid. “This is a tragic time for our state,” he said. “We are committed to providing every possible resource to help rescue efforts and aid recovery.”

With families grieving, others still waiting for news, and dangerous weather still looming, officials have reminded Texans to stay strong and come together as they always do in times of crisis.
