Telangana Bandh: Students Protest on Wednesday

Telangana Bandh: Student Unions Demand Education Reforms

Hyderabad: Several student unions in Telangana have called for a bandh (shutdown) of all schools and colleges across the state on Wednesday, highlighting ongoing problems in the education sector.

Groups like SFI, AISF, and PDSU are demanding that the State government appoint an Education Minister immediately. They are also asking for a law to control the fees charged by private and corporate educational institutions.

The student unions want the government to fill vacant positions of teachers, MEOs, DEOs, lecturers, and principals. They also urged the construction of permanent buildings for welfare residential schools and hostels, many of which are currently operating from rented spaces.

Other key demands include the cancellation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a resolution against its implementation in the Assembly, and the release of pending scholarships, fee reimbursement, and mess and cosmetic charges.
