CM Revanth Reddy: No Tolerance for Child Sexual Abuse
Hyderabad – Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has said that the Telangana government will take strong action against anyone involved in sexual abuse of children, especially crimes that happen through social media.
He assured that the government is fully committed to protecting children in every possible way.
Focus on Child Safety
The Chief Minister spoke at a state-level conference on child safety and rights at the Dr. MCRHRD Institute. The event was attended by top officials, including Supreme Court Judge Justice Surya Kant and Acting Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, Justice Sujoy Paul.
More Than Just Punishment
Revanth Reddy said that stopping such crimes is not enough — children who are victims also need emotional, legal, and moral support. He emphasized that full protection should be given to help them heal and grow.
Bharosa Centres for Help
He shared that Telangana has 29 Bharosa Centres across the state. These centres help women and children by offering police support, medical care, legal help, and counselling in a safe and friendly setting.
Special Child-Friendly Courts
Telangana is the first state in India to set up special Child-Friendly Courts through the Hyderabad Bharosa Centre. These courts help children feel safe and respected during legal proceedings.
Stronger Law Enforcement
The Chief Minister called for better enforcement of laws like the POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Act. He said justice should not just be about court decisions, but also about how children are treated at police stations and welfare centres.
A Call for Unity
He urged police, judges, child welfare workers, and society to work together to protect children and prevent abuse. He said survivors should be treated with dignity and helped to rebuild their lives.
The event also saw participation from UNICEF, senior police officers, legal officials, and civil society members. Revanth Reddy praised everyone involved for their commitment to child protection.
