Michigan Walmart Stabbing Leaves 11 Injured, 6 Critical

Random Stabbing at Michigan Walmart Leaves 11 Injured

A shocking stabbing incident at a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan, left 11 people injured on Saturday afternoon. Police say the attack was random and carried out by a single man.

According to officials, the suspect—a 42-year-old Michigan resident—used a folding knife to stab people near the checkout area of the store around 4:45 p.m. Six of the victims were in critical condition, and five others were seriously hurt.

Sheriff Michael Shea said the victims were not targeted and that the attack appears to have been completely random. “This kind of violence is very rare in our area,” he said during a press conference.

Quick Police Response

Witnesses said people inside the store tried to help the victims and stop the attacker before police arrived. A sheriff’s deputy reached the scene within minutes and arrested the suspect. Several bystanders also helped during the incident.

A video shared online shows people in the parking lot yelling at a man to drop a knife and lie on the ground. The video also shows others helping a victim nearby.

“It felt like something out of a movie,” said a woman who was in the parking lot when the attack happened.

Ongoing Investigation
