Maoist Couple with ₹41 Lakh Bounty Surrenders in the presence of Fadnavis

Gadchiroli: A feared Maoist, Nangsu Tumreti alias Giridhar, who had over 170 cases and a ₹25 lakh bounty on him, surrendered with his wife in Gadchiroli district on Saturday. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was present during the surrender, according to a police official.

Giridhar’s wife, Sangeeta Usendi alias Lalita, also surrendered. She had 17 cases against her and a ₹16 lakh bounty.

Giridhar joined the Maoist movement in 1996 and led activities in Gadchiroli. He faced 179 cases, including 86 for encounters and 15 for arson. Under the surrender scheme, Giridhar will receive ₹15 lakh and Lalita ₹8.5 lakh from the government.

Fadnavis praised the Gadchiroli police for their efforts to end the Maoist threat and help integrate former militants back into society.
