Hyderabad, October 09, 2023: Train tickets from Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh for the Sankranti festival season have sold out three months in advance, leaving many passengers stranded. The Sankranti festival is one of the biggest festivals in Andhra Pradesh, and many people travel to their hometowns to celebrate with their families.

According to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the trains going to Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Bhimavaram, Machilipatnam, Narasapur, Nellore and Tirupati from Hyderabad are already full between January 10 and 13, 2024.

I have been trying to book tickets for the past two weeks, but they are all sold out,” said K Nagababu, a techie from Hyderabad. “I am very disappointed, as I was really looking forward to celebrating Sankranti with my family.”

Railway officials said that they are planning to run special trains during the Sankranti season, but the schedule will be released closer to the festival.

“We are aware of the high demand for tickets during the Sankranti season,” said a railway official. “We are working on running special trains to meet the demand.”

Meanwhile, passengers are advised to book their tickets in advance, if possible. They can also check the IRCTC website for updates on special trains.
