EFLU Protest: Call to Drop Charges

Hyderabad: Students and teachers at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) are calling on the university administration to drop the charges filed against students and faculty members who were protesting against the mishandling of a sexual assault case on campus.

The students clarified that their protest was focused on the university’s failure to handle the sexual assault incident and not related to the cancellation of a literary discussion about the Palestinian cause.

One student mentioned in the FIR wasn’t even on campus on the morning of October 19. They had left for Kerala and had proof of a valid flight ticket. However, this student had participated in earlier protests by the SPARSH committee, advocating for elected student representatives.

Faculty members claim that two of their colleagues, who were trying to address the situation at the request of the Proctor, are now facing accusations of encouraging the students to protest against him.

In the meantime, the EFLU administration has extended the holidays until October 29.
