Warangal: Sudden rains soak cotton and maize at Enumamula market
Sudden unseasonal rains on Tuesday in Warangal and Khammam districts damaged cotton and maize produce at the Enumamula agriculture market, adding to farmers’ woes after the recent cyclonic rains.
Farmers said the rain came suddenly, leaving no time to move the produce to safety. Cotton and maize that were ready for transport got completely soaked. Traders and the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) refused to buy the wet stock, leaving farmers disappointed. They urged officials to step in and ensure that purchases continue without any conditions.
