Harish Rao: Congress party deserves credit for converting free electricity scheme into new electricity
Hyderabad, August 13: Telangana Finance Minister Harish Rao on Saturday said that the Congress party deserves credit for converting the free electricity scheme into new electricity.
Rao was speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad. He said that the Congress party had introduced the free electricity scheme in Telangana in 2004. However, the scheme was not sustainable and the state was facing a severe power crisis.
Rao said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had taken steps to convert the free electricity scheme into new electricity. The government had invested heavily in power generation and transmission infrastructure. As a result, the state is now self-sufficient in power and is even exporting power to other states.
Rao said that the Congress party is now trying to take credit for the TRS government’s achievements. He said that the Congress party had no right to take credit for the free electricity scheme because it was the TRS government that had made it sustainable.
Rao said that the Congress party is only interested in power politics. It is not interested in the welfare of the people. He said that the TRS government is committed to the welfare of the people and will continue to provide free electricity to the farmers and the poor.
