Alabama Markets Celebrate Sweet Grown Alabama Day

Celebrate Local Flavor: Sweet Grown Alabama Day Shines Across Markets

Markets across Alabama celebrated Sweet Grown Alabama Day on Saturday, July 26. This event highlights local farmers and their Alabama-grown products like fruits, vegetables, flowers, and more.

The celebration took place at several farmers markets, including those in Albertville, Northport, Monroeville, Killen Park, Berlin, Tuscaloosa, and more. Each location had different activities, but all focused on supporting local farmers and encouraging people to buy fresh, local goods.

At the Market at Pepper Place in Birmingham, the WBRC news team joined in the fun. The market featured giveaways, taste tests, discounts, and even shared recipes with visitors.

Ellie Watson, Director of Sweet Grown Alabama, explained why it’s important to support local farmers. “Alabama farmers depend on us. If we support them now, they can continue growing for future generations,” she said.

Local farmer Jacob Sandlin from Sandlin Farm in Holly Pond added, “When you buy local, you’re helping your community and getting fresher produce too.”

The day was a great reminder to shop local and support Alabama’s farming families.
